It is the story of a kind-hearted playful young man (Vijay). Unable to withstand his pranks his father drives him out of his home. He goes about his life doing odd jobs but never lasts longer than few days in one place. He meets a girl with dreamy eyes (Rajini) but pretends to a half-witted boy (Munna) to win her heart. Meanwhile some cops are chasing a diamond thief (Raja Babu) who hides the

diamond in Munna's hip pocket. Rest of the plot revolves around how Raja Babu tries to retrieve his diamond, how successful Munna and Rajini are in getting rid of the bad guys.The Jabalpur-based Chand family consists of widower Lal and two sons, the elder is married, while the younger, Vijay, is a little bit eccentric, refuses to get married and gets to be a thorn in his father's side so much so that he is asked to leave. Not having enough money to travel by train to Bombay, Vijay dons the garb of a 12-year old, and with a help of a mysterious man, Rajababu, who calls himself his paternal uncle, reaches Bombay. He bumbles his way from job to job until he finds one as a Salesman in an electronic store that specializes in radios and tape-recorders. He meets with and falls in love with Rajnidevi alias Asha, and both want to get married. Vijay and Asha are about to get married when their lives are turned upside down by a woman named Lily, who claims she is Vijay's wife. Unable to convince Asha, Vijay is taken by Lily and Raja to a mental asylum - where he may end up spending the rest of his life, leaving unanswered a number of questions as to who are Rajababu and Lily, and why they have picked Vijay to be their victim?Half ticket, directed by Kalidas, is a 1962 Bollywood classic film starring Kishore Kumar, Madhubala, Helen and Pran.

Vijay (Kishore Kumar) is the good-for-nothing son of a rich industrialist, who becomes bored of his father’s constant railing and the efforts to marry him off, with the intention of getting him “settled” in life. So Vijay walks out of his home and decides to leave for Bombay and start life afresh in the big city, but he doesn’t have enough money to get himself a ticket! Vijay gets a burst of inspiration from a plump child called Munnah, who is waiting in line with his mother (Tun Tun), and decides to pass himself off a child in order to get the eponymous half-ticket. Now disguised as Munnah, Vijay is used as a mule for a diamond smuggler (Pran) without his knowledge. On the train, Vijay also meets Rajnidevi (Madhubala) and falls in love with her. The rest of the film follows Vijay's exploits as he avoids capture by the diamond smuggler and his girlfriend (Shammi), romances Rajnidevi while avoiding her auntie-ji (Manorama), and reunites with his father. The film is based on the Hollywood movie You're Never Too Young. Some hilarious scenes: Vijay at Interview- prompted for "MASKA" (Flattery). Dinner at Vijay's home, called by his father to Board of Directors. Would-be Father-in-Law comes to see Vijay as a bridegroom for her daughter.
