Gangaram (Gopichand) is an orphan who dreams of becoming a police officer from childhood. Working in a cafe belonging to Babai M S Narayana in mornings, Gangaram attends night school to achieve his dream and within no time Gangaram becomes a Police officer. Young, dynamic and sincere Gangaram targets the Underworld Mafia and their activities in the city. Within three days of his appointment, Gangaram is elevated to an Encounter Specialist by DIG Bharath Nandan (Nassar).Gangaram and his team of four cops start their hunt for

two Underworld gangs, first Talwar gang operating within the city and second Khalid (Kelly Dorjee) gang operating from Malaysia. First Gangaram cleans up Talwar gang and plans to travel Kenya where Khalid is on a one day private trip. When Gangaram is getting ready for Kenya, Police raid the house and prove his illegal contacts with Mafia. Gangaram finds it very soon that he was trapped in the plan of Khalid and DIG Bharathnandan who used him as a tool to clean their Mafia opponent Talwar.In an interview by the Telugu new channel 9, Gangaram starts cry that his own department framed him and states that he will become a gangster and kill everyone who was involved in framing him including the DIG and ACP. An adamant Gangaram escapes from police and re-establishes himself as Gangu Bhai, the Mafia Don. Pavitra, the love interest of Gangaram finds out her mother was killed by the DIG. In a friendly encounter, he kills the DIG and goes to Malaysia where he meets Khalid. After he gets there he gets beat up by Khalid but he escapes and in a wild chase, Gangaram and Khalid battle on a helicopter rooftop and Gangaram kills Khalid and puts 10 bullets in him. The movie ends when Audience finds out that Gangaram has been set up by the DGP (Prakash Raj) for eliminating all the gangsters. He then asks the DGP to remove all the cases against him so that he can come back and join the Police force again, but the DGP says it's not that easy as he had killed police officers too. Instead he tells him to start and run a mafia gang in Malaysia and operate there so that He can be of a relief that Mafia Gang is under Police itself. Gangaram then calls his gang and Pavitra to come to Malaysia and gets settled there.

Drona (Nitin) is the only son of Mukhesh Rushi and Sita. Drona’s father Mukesh Rushi is an honest and dedicated Police officer. Drona likes his mother Meenakshi (Sita) so much and love her as his own life. When he was a child Drona steals his father’s revolver to scare his friends. On knowing this his father scolds him, consequently Drona leaves his home and gets lost. After 10 years, he comes back to his parents with the name Chandu. A Neighboring girl Indu (Priyamani) likes Drona/Chandu a lot. On a fateful day, she finds out that Chandu is none other than the long lost boy, Drona. It's revealed that Drona and his friend were kidnapped along with other boys. They were forced to become thieves. Drona had no other choice to kill a group of police officers in self-defense, while trying to escape with the jewelry because the bad guys have to take poison out of Drona's body and the other guys might get killed by the bad guys. The officers had duty to shoot Drona. Drona made a bad choice to kill 2 innocent people flying a police helicopter. Drona shouldn't have killed the people, who were flying the helicopter. Drona becomes an approver to send the robbers and their kingpin to jail.

Arundhati (Anushka Shetty) is the great-granddaughter of the Raja of Gadwal, Mahasamsthan. Arrangements are being made for her marriage. Arundhati is the first female to be born since her great great grandmother and is especially revered in the family. Her grandfather, the head of the family, talks to her with respect as if she were older than him. She receives a misleading phone call in her fiance Rahul's (Arjan Bajwa) voice asking her to come to the fort of Gadwal, where she faces a horrible revelation. Learning the story from an aged servant maid, Chandramma (Manorama), Arundhati comes to know that she is a look alike of her great-grandmother Arundhati/Jejjamma.

Jejjama is an expert in painting, dancing and martial arts. Her elder sister is married to her cousin Pasupathi (Sonu Sood). Pasupathi, a womanizer, rapes the women he likes and kills those who object. While Jejjama was still a young girl, he raped and killed her blind dance teacher while a horrified Jejjama watched through the peephole. Jejjama, furious, demands that he be killed but the King tells her that this would ruin her sister's life. Hearing this, Jejjamma's sister commits suicide. The people of Gadwal furiously thrash Pasupathi and tie him to his horse. Though Gadwal celebrates his death, he is saved by Aghoras (saints who practice the dark arts). Pasupathi masters the Tantric arts and returns to Gadwal many years later to exact his revenge.

He unleashes carnage as he uses his powers to torture innocent people—something the Aghoras don't do. He arrives on Jejjama's marriage day and magically starts removing her clothes but Jejjama seduces him and performs a special dance imbued with martial arts to lull Pasupathi. She then cuts off his tongue (thus ending the incantations) and pins his hands, allowing a chandalier to fall on his body. She spares him from being killed to prevent him from becoming a 'pretatma' (a demonic poltergeist). Pasupathi is buried alive in a tomb and powerful 'yantras' (defensive spells) are put on it to prevent him from coming out. Jejjama goes to the Aghories for help. They say she cannot kill Pasupathi now; she must be reborn again. She sacrifices her own life and before she dies, tells her son that she will be reborn as the first daughter in the family. This is the reason that Arundhathi's grandfather always treats her with respect. The queen dies and her relics are fashioned into a dagger – the one weapon that could destroy Pasupathi forever.

A worker in a trance unknowingly breaks the tomb and releases the 'pretatma'. Anwar (Sayaji Shinde) who treats patients through sorcery tells her asks her to fight Pasupathi. Arundhati comes to know that her great-grandmother had prepared a 'weapon' with her own bones and had kept it with the sages. Pasupathi stabs Arundhati and she goes to Anwar's palace after recovering. While they procure the weapon, Anwar falls off a cliff.

Arundhati, believing that Anwar is dead, returns to the fort to surrender herself to Pasupathi to prevent the death of her family members. Anwar, who survives the fall, hands the weapon to Arundhati. The weapon has to be soaked in Arundhathi's blood before it can be used. Before Anwar can tell her this, Pasupathi kills him. As a last resort to save herself, Arundhati tries to kill herself with the same weapon. The dagger glows from her blood and she finally slays Pasupathi.

Chandi (Priyamani) is a powerful and talented young lady who is well versed in the art of combat. She is handled by

a guy named Azad (Sarath Kumar) and together, they hunt down some government officials and political leaders. The helpless Police Department turns to the CBI for help and Nagababu comes in as a special officer to tackle the case.

During the course of investigation, some shocking truths are revealed about Chandi. The young lady has a violent and tragic past. She belongs to the village of Krishnapatnam and her father is Ashok Gajapathi Raju (Krishnam Raju). They belong to the Alluri dynasty. The village of Krishnapatnam and Ashok Gajapathi Raju’s family are destroyed by the evil Minister (Ashish Vidyarthi), as they stand in the way of some lucrative mines. How this young lady turns into Chandi and avenges the destruction of her family is what the movie is all about. Plus Points : Krishnam Raju looks regal as Ashok Gajapathi Raju. Priyamani looks good in a few scenes. Posani manages to tickle the funny bone in one or two scenes. Minus Points : ‘Chandi’ is a text book example of how not to make a film. When a national award winning actress like Priyamani finds herself in such a mindless mess, one can’t help but feel sad. There is absolutely no logic or conviction in the narration. Samudra’s direction is very bad. Dialogues are terrible and cheesy. There is no entertainment quotient at all, save for a few scenes involving Posani. Sarath Kumar and Vinod Kumar have been wasted in poorly written roles. Ashish Vidyarthi is made to look foolish in the film. There is no emotional conviction in the film. Despite issues like land grabbing etc, the scenes do not make any impact on viewers. The famous anthyakshari scene from ‘Gabbar Singh’ has been destroyed in the film. Poor Harish Shankar will have a heart attack if he sees how the scene has been used in this movie. The film’s pace is quite slow and boredom sets in quite early. Poor placement of songs just adds to the misery. Technical Aspects : Cinematography of the film is very mediocre. Editing is not up to the mark as there are jump cuts in the film and transitions are not smooth. Music and background score are very bad and do not help the film in any way. Samudra’s direction is the biggest drawback for the film. There is neither entertainment nor serious political drama in the film. Verdict : ‘Chandi’ is an avoidable flick. The tagline of the film is ‘The Power of Woman’. But it should have been ‘The Power of Torture’. Poor direction, weak screenplay, bad dialogues and atrocious placement of songs just make this film unbearable.
