The story of film is set in ravines of river Chambal valley. It tells the tale of dacoits in 1975, who termed themselves Baaghis, the rebels. Lacchu gives information to Baaghis that a dowry of tons of gold and cash will be given to the bride by her father so dacoit Man Singh (Manoj Bajpayee) alias 'Dadda' should raid. Special Task Force (STF) headed by Inspector Virendra Singh Gujjar (Ashutosh Rana) attacks them during the loot in which Dadda gets killed. This leads to a split between gang. Lakhna (Sushant Singh Rajput) wants to surrender to police while Vakil Singh (Ranvir Shorey) wants to follow baaghi's dharm (way of life) of rebellion. On run they meet Thakur's wife Indumati Tomar (Bhumi Pednekar) with a girl named Khushi whom Indumati's family head had raped. Indumati had killed him to save Khushi and ran away to rescue her and take her to hospital. Indumati's whole family is chasing her to get her killed. She pleads Baaghis to help her take Khushi to hospital. Baaghis agree. Indumati's family arrives and tries to take away Khushi with them. While Vakil Singh agrees to let her go, Lakhna revolts and disagrees. In this melee, Indumati's own child fires a bullet on Vakil's brother and kills him by accident. Lakhna and team along with Indumati and Khushi escape and Vakil Singh vows to chase them and kill. It is revealed that Maan Singh looted dowry house to save Lacchu's father from inspector Gujjar knowing very well that it was a trap to kill them. Gujjar had taken him hostage and promised to free only if Lacchu brings Baaghis to that village for the police to kill all Baaghis at once and get reward from the government. Midway to hospital, Lakhna tells Indumati a background story about a curse of killing innocent children inside a room by mistake led Baaghis' whole group being killed turn by turn. And that they need to find Sonchiriya (a metaphor for a 'Saviour Girl') to get rid of the curse. Baaghis meet Phuilya dacoit and she joins Lakhna to save the bleeding girl and take them to Dholpur Hospital. They are joined again by Vakil Singh and gang in the task. Vakil says "to ward off the curse we need to save this girl from death, it is a chance to repent. This girl Khushi is "our Sonchiraiya, our saviour".Indumati son's want to kill her mother but Lakhna confronts and tell the truth that his grandfather was a bad person and father not grandfather. Lakhna and Indumati makes to hospital. In the last scene, while the girl is being hospitalized, Lakhna who, being chased by Gujjar, was hiding behind the tree comes out to surrender as his task of saving Sonchiriya was finished. But by the curse, Lakhna is shot dead by Gujjar. In the aftermath, it is revealed that Vakil Singh has been killed by the police at the railway station, as his corpse is loaded in a tractor. Later, while traveling towards police station after killing Lakhna, Gujjar is shot and killed by one of his constable who was earlier assaulted and insulted by him.

Satya Chaudhry, a woman dying of cancer, requests her childhood acquaintance, Roop, to provide companionship to her husband, Dev. Roop agrees on the condition that she marry Dev. Once married, Dev tells Roop that their relationship will be cordial and platonic. A depressed Roop takes solace in music, which she begins learning from the madam of a brothel, Bahaar Begum. She also begins working in her husband's publishing house. Roop expresses interest in writing about the condition of the locality in which the brothel is located, during which she interacts with a womanising blacksmith named Zafar.
Zafar wants to exact revenge on his parents, Bahaar Begum and Balraj Chaudhry (who abandoned Zafar after Balraj ended his extramarital affair with Bahaar) by seducing Roop, as she is married to Balraj's legitimate son, Dev. Roop misconstrues Zafar's intentions and falls in love with him. She also begins to develop a friendship with Dev, to Satya's pleasure. Satya dies after urging Dev to give Roop a chance and to forgive Balraj for his affair. In another effort to humiliate Balraj, Zafar instigates communal hatred in his friend, Abdul, by demanding for the partition of India on religious lines, which Balraj and Dev do not support.
When Balraj becomes aware of Roop and Zafar's affair, he confronts Bahaar Begum and Zafar. Bahaar, who disagrees with Zafar's approach, warns Roop. Heartbroken, Roop consummates her marriage with Dev, but insists that she would never be able to love him. As Abdul Khan's political stance gains leverage, riots against Hindus and Sikhs in the city take place, during which the Chaudhry's decide to flee to Amritsar with the help of Zafar. He confides in Roop that he eventually fell in love with her, despite his early intention. While boarding a train, Zafar is murdered by Abdul, as Roop and Dev escape. Ten years later, Roop and Dev, still in a loveless marriage, are interviewed about their experience by Aditya, a journalist documenting the partition.

Initially planned as a production collaboration between Salman Khan and Johar with Kumar starring in the lead role, Kesari was announced in October 2017, with Kumar and Johar reprising their responsibilities; Khan later quit the project. Chopra was cast as the deceased wife of Kumar's character. Principal photography for the film began in January 2018 and concluded in December. The soundtrack was composed by Tanishk Bagchi, Arko Pravo Mukherjee, Chirantan Bhatt, Jasbir Jassi, Gurmoh and Jasleen Royal with lyrics written by Kumaar, Manoj Muntashir, Kunwar Juneja and Bagchi. Produced on a budget of ₹130 crore (US$18 million), the film was distributed internationally by Zee Studios.
Kesari was released in India during the Holi festival, on 21 March 2019. The film received positive reviews from critics; it had a good start at the box office, while the opening day morning collection was affected by Holi-related celebrations

Initially planned as a production collaboration between Salman Khan and Johar with Kumar starring in the lead role, Kesari was announced in October 2017, with Kumar and Johar reprising their responsibilities; Khan later quit the project. Chopra was cast as the deceased wife of Kumar's character. Principal photography for the film began in January 2018 and concluded in December. The soundtrack was composed by Tanishk Bagchi, Arko Pravo Mukherjee, Chirantan Bhatt, Jasbir Jassi, Gurmoh and Jasleen Royal with lyrics written by Kumaar, Manoj Muntashir, Kunwar Juneja and Bagchi. Produced on a budget of ₹130 crore (US$18 million), the film was distributed internationally by Zee Studios.

The plot revolves around a struggling street photographer Rafi (Nawazuddin Siddiqui), based in Mumbai, who works day and night to pay off an old family debt. His grandmother (Farrukh Jaffar) wishes to see him married and constantly pressurizes him to find a suitable match. He convinces his grandmother by showing her a picture of a shy stranger, Miloni (Sanya Malhotra). When Rafi’s grandmother further prods to introduce her to his fiancé, he tracks down Miloni, a student belonging to a middle-class family. Rafi convinces her to fake their relationship, to which Miloni readily agrees. Despite the difference in their culture, status and economic background, the two form a unique bond. The film is a love letter to Mumbai, bringing the city out as a character sheltering the two protagonists and their extraordinary journey.

The beauty of ‘Ammammagarillu’ lies in the fact that you cannot get a more relatable story than this on the big screen. However, the same becomes the reason for its downfall as the story progresses. This family drama charts the journey of a joint family that splits due to petty fights over inheritance. Every single character and dialogue uttered in the film is so relatable; it’s almost like watching your summer at ammamma’s home being played out on-screen.
There’s the eldest daughter of the house (Sudha), who’s sweet and complicit with her parents’ plan of not wanting the family to split. Then there’s the pedda mavayya (Rao Ramesh) who’s tired of playing second fiddle to his picture perfect elder sister and brother-in-law (Sumanth). There’s a funny Bangalore mavayya (Shivaji) who loses his reason to smile when the family splits and drowns himself in work. The youngest bangaram pinni (Hema) who’s greedy for gold and cinema picchi US mavayya (Ravi Prakash) who’s married to an American (played by an Indian in a cringe-worthy blonde wig) make up this family.
20 years ago the family splits because the tatayya disagrees over splitting the inheritance. After his death, the brothers and sisters all go their own way, irrespective of not getting the money. Now brought together by greed for their shares at the titular house in Pithapuram, Santosh (Naga Shaurya) makes it his personal mission to bring the family closer in 20 days. But to do so, he must break through the barriers his pedda mavayya and whose daughter Sita keeps creating for him.
Judging by the storyline and characters, one would expect ‘Ammammagarillu’ to get the same things right that films like ‘Seethamma Vakitlo Sirimalle Chettu’ and ‘Atharintiki Daredi’ managed to muster. However, the film turns into a slow and dreary drama devoid of freshness the more and more it progresses. While the film does have its moments where nostalgia hits you right in the gut, the unnecessary badgering of moral values and predictability of how all this will end makes it an okay ride. Devoid of the usual song and dance routines and fight scenes for most part, the film does try hard to set itself apart.
The title song however, sung by the versatile SP Balasubramanyam and penned by Sirivennela Seetharama Sastry with music composed by Kalyana Ramana manages to muster more emotion in the audience than the whole film does. The whole film makes for a rather passive watch, failing to engage the audience much. Naga Shaurya and Shakalaka Shankar do their best to shine through in the characters handed to them. Shamlee unfortunately doesn’t have much to do other than scheming against her bava and later, suddenly flipping the switch and falling in love with him.
Go watch this one this weekend if you cherished the memories you made at ammamma’s home during the summers. But if real life holds enough family politics for you, give this one a cold hard miss.

The beauty of ‘Ammammagarillu’ lies in the fact that you cannot get a more relatable story than this on the big screen. However, the same becomes the reason for its downfall as the story progresses. This family drama charts the journey of a joint family that splits due to petty fights over inheritance. Every single character and dialogue uttered in the film is so relatable; it’s almost like watching your summer at ammamma’s home being played out on-screen.
There’s the eldest daughter of the house (Sudha), who’s sweet and complicit with her parents’ plan of not wanting the family to split. Then there’s the pedda mavayya (Rao Ramesh) who’s tired of playing second fiddle to his picture perfect elder sister and brother-in-law (Sumanth). There’s a funny Bangalore mavayya (Shivaji) who loses his reason to smile when the family splits and drowns himself in work. The youngest bangaram pinni (Hema) who’s greedy for gold and cinema picchi US mavayya (Ravi Prakash) who’s married to an American (played by an Indian in a cringe-worthy blonde wig) make up this family.
20 years ago the family splits because the tatayya disagrees over splitting the inheritance. After his death, the brothers and sisters all go their own way, irrespective of not getting the money. Now brought together by greed for their shares at the titular house in Pithapuram, Santosh (Naga Shaurya) makes it his personal mission to bring the family closer in 20 days. But to do so, he must break through the barriers his pedda mavayya and whose daughter Sita keeps creating for him.
Judging by the storyline and characters, one would expect ‘Ammammagarillu’ to get the same things right that films like ‘Seethamma Vakitlo Sirimalle Chettu’ and ‘Atharintiki Daredi’ managed to muster. However, the film turns into a slow and dreary drama devoid of freshness the more and more it progresses. While the film does have its moments where nostalgia hits you right in the gut, the unnecessary badgering of moral values and predictability of how all this will end makes it an okay ride. Devoid of the usual song and dance routines and fight scenes for most part, the film does try hard to set itself apart.
The title song however, sung by the versatile SP Balasubramanyam and penned by Sirivennela Seetharama Sastry with music composed by Kalyana Ramana manages to muster more emotion in the audience than the whole film does. The whole film makes for a rather passive watch, failing to engage the audience much. Naga Shaurya and Shakalaka Shankar do their best to shine through in the characters handed to them. Shamlee unfortunately doesn’t have much to do other than scheming against her bava and later, suddenly flipping the switch and falling in love with him.
Go watch this one this weekend if you cherished the memories you made at ammamma’s home during the summers. But if real life holds enough family politics for you, give this one a cold hard miss.

All of them refuse Guddu's offer to distribute the money and the race to reach the booty first begins. Finally after many ups & downs all reach the designated place. But it's not as easy as it seems. Is there any truth about the hidden booty? Or all of them are being fooled? After a day full of life changing, near death experiences, will the adventure ever end or another one begin?
